Borage oil is extracted from the Borago officinalis plant and contains up to 25% gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). Borage is the most economical source for this essential omega-6 fatty acid. The oil is used in infant nutrition and personal care products.
Borage is planted in late May to June and takes approximately 75 days to reach maturity. The crop is swathed and harvested using a pick up header once the swath has dried.
NCI manages the commercial production of borage oil through contract crop production with growers in North America. The oil is processed to demanding standards to comply with Natures Crops’ proprietary Crop Assured 356® system of quality control and traceability protocols.
